Reflections on learning how to PhD(eal) while making cool science accessible to other curious humans
I’m Maddie, a microbiology and immunology Ph.D. candidate at University of Michigan studying how bacteria survive and thrive within our intestines. When I am not in the lab doing microbiology, I am writing about it. My favorite part of the scientific process has always been sharing it with others, particularly folks outside of academia. Given the results of scientific research affect and belong to everybody, I believe it is critical that they are made accessible and digestible to diverse audiences - especially when it comes to sharing the wonders of the microbial world. My goal for this blog is to share interesting scientific stories and ideas while highlighting the personal side of research through my own reflections on life as a graduate student (and life in general).
